If the Mechanical Fallacy is the modern academic delusion that precision requires a saw, then the Combustion Fallacy is the specific delusion that vitrification requires a match. Across the global archaeological record—from the fog-swept highlands of Scotland to the sun-scorched crags of the Peruvian Andes—there exists a category of anomaly that has remained impenetrable to the academic Fire-Watchers for two centuries. These are the vitrified forts. They are massive, dry-stone ramparts where the very minerals have been subjected to temperatures so extreme that they have melted, flowed, and fused into a singular, glassy mass.
